Week 9 Reading Notes: Filipino Tales pt. A

This week, I am reading the Filipino Tales. The story that stuck out to me most from the section A was The Clever Husband and Wife. I wanted to try a new note-taking strategy that I partially made up for today's reading notes. I am going to break down the story and share how I felt when I read each different section. I think this will help me to potentially write a story based on this reading because I will be able to think back and remember my thoughts and feelings as I read this story for the first time. I am excited to try this new note-taking strategy!

At first, when I read that the husband was going to get to marry the love of his life, I felt so excited! We didn't know the character of the husband yet, and so I felt as though he deserved to get married and spend his life with his love.

Next, when I found out that they did not have any money and they were just planning on using the doctor's money to live off of, I became a little bit suspicious. I didn't think this money would last for them forever, and I figured they would run out eventually. They did not have a back-up plan and so I wondered what would happen to the husband and wife.

When they decided to fake the wife's death, this made me upset. I didn't like that they were cheating the doctor and stealing money right from under his nose. I was also very surprised that the doctor did not suspect anything, or even go to check on the wife.

When they faked the husband's death, I figured surely the doctor would find out. There was no way that both the husband and wife could fake their deaths without anyone finding out. I was honestly really intrigued at this point and was very excited to see what turn the story took next.

When they continuously tricked the doctor, I was mad and surprised! I assumed that the doctor would eventually figure it out when the servant was running back and forth, but he never did. As he finally went to check, I was relieved that he found out and was no longer deceived.

The very end shocked me! If I was the doctor, I would have been so mad. He found it hilarious and offered the husband and wife to come back to his home with him. This completely surprised me and made me mad all at the same time. I could not believe it.

Introduction to Pip

Hi friends! Welcome to my blog :) My name is Piper, but most of my friends call me a slew of nicknames like Pipe, Pipey, Pipes, Pipeydoodle, Pip (hence Pip Pip Hurray)... you get the point! I am a student at the University of Oklahoma, and I am currently finishing up my last semester before I graduate (don't remind me, I'm getting emotional about it). I am from Tulsa, OK originally, and I would love to go back someday, but my future is pretty up in the air right now so I am not sure when that might be. I am studying Health and Exercise Science with an emphasis on Pre-Occupational Therapy, and the goal would be to start OT school in Summer 2020. I'm super passionate about people and forming relationships, which is what drew me to OT. I love the idea of working in a profession that allows me to make new friends, love others, and solve problems all at the same time. As well as my many nicknames, my friends call me an old lady at heart. I love to read (most recent book- Where...

Week 9 Story: Justice is Served

Justice is Served The husband and wife were so in love. They were ever thankful to the doctor for introducing them to each other. If it weren't for him, they would have never found each other. But that's beside the point. What they were really interested in was the money. They loved each other but they were both greedy. They thought they could never be ultimately happy unless they were rich. They both had worked for the doctor at one point or another, and so they knew that he had more money than he knew what to do with! The husband and wife were talking one night about their lack of income and how neither of them held jobs. They decided that their best bet would be to deceive the doctor and take his money! The next day, the husband went to the doctor and asked if he could borrow some money to help his wife, who was sick. The doctor willingly gave the husband money, because he trusted him and wanted the wife to get better. A week later, the husband returned, claiming his wif...
